This is a short chapter book for maybe year olds? Very adventurous and outdoorsy. Would be good for girls who are avid hikers and climbers, or boys who might be reluctant to read "girly" books. Astrid Lindgren also wrote the Pippi Longstocking books, and many of those are excellent (Pippi is crazy-strong and unconventional) but be wary.
